Liverpool John Lennon Airport has completed work on a number of new retail units, and the refurbishment of 20,000 sq ft within the airport departure lounge.
The project is aimed at improving the customer experience for departing passengers.
The airport said that, based upon feedback regarding the type of shopping and eating facilities that passengers want to see, almost £3m has been invested over the past nine months.
High Street brands Dixons and Accessorize have opened new stores offering goods at tax free prices, along with a Cabin Bar that offers views across to the runway, a new Ritazza coffee shop, and the Beer House with a selection of beers, wines and pub food.
Other improvements have also included improved stores for existing retailers, new washroom facilities, large flight information screens, seating and lighting to create a brighter passenger environment.
Once the summer season has finished for the Airport, work will then commence on the next phase of improvement works costing a further £2m, which will see an expansion and redesign of the existing World Duty Free shop.
