LJ prelets 15,000 sq ft at Mount Street

LJ Group has signed creative and tech office provider, Headspace, to 15,000 sq ft at 2 Mount Street in central Manchester for its first site outside London.

The listed building on Mount Street is currently undergoing refurbishment by LJ Group as part of its programme to restore several buildings around Albert Square. As well as 2 Mount Street, LJ owns Victoria Buildings, Northern Assurance Building, St Andrew’s Chambers, and 1 Central Street.

Jonny Rosenblatt, managing director, Headspace Group, said: “Manchester is a thriving hub for small businesses and a genuinely exciting place to be launching. There’s been investment and development across the board and there is a growing demand for modern, innovative workspaces. We’ve been analysing Manchester for over a year, and it’s clear to me that it boasts one of the UK’s most exciting tech and creative scenes, but is underserviced by high quality operators.”

Headspace operates two other centres in London and expects to open in Manchester in January 2017.

Headspace promises “fun, clean and modern” space with “uniquely designed private offices and co-working spaces”. Creative types who move in can take advantage of a “nap room, a range of uniquely themed meeting rooms, private work booths, refreshment bars, reception area and shower rooms, as well as a 60-person event space with stunning views overlooking the city.”
