Liverpool schools renewal continues

Morgan Sindall and Kier Construction have been awarded contracts valued at £13m to refurbish and partially rebuild two Liverpool schools.

At Bellerive FCJ Catholic College for girls, Morgan Sindall will start on a new £5.6m teaching and sixth form building on Aigburth Drive in February 2015, to be completed in early 2016.

At St Francis Xavier's boys school, £7.6m will be spent on a new science block to replace the existing temporary accommodation. There will also be a new sports hall, and the music department moved to the main building. The main entrance will be moved from Woolton Hill Road to Beaconsfield Road. The work will be carried out by Kier Construction and completed by November 2015.

The work is part of the mayor's pledge to deliver 12 new or revamped schools in the city in a £169m programme.
