Liverpool One stays open later for Christmas shoppers

Grosvenor is extending opening hours at Liverpool One in the run-up to Christmas by an extra hour to 9pm each weekday evening.

The longer hours will not affect weekends, closing at 7pm on Saturdays and 5pm on Sundays.

Since phase two of the £1bn scheme opened at the start of October, retailers Fred Perry, Jones the Bootmaker, Radley, Crocs, Urban Outfitters and Ted Baker have opened. New restaurants Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Onitsuka Tiger and Barburrito among others have also opened.

The next four week will see Thorntons, Script Menswear, Henri Lloyd, Lacoste, Two Joes, Drome and Café Sports Express start trading.

However, several retailers have held back openings due to the credit crunch and empty units display signs claiming openings will take place in spring 2009.

The 1.6m sq ft, 175-unit scheme covers 43 acres of the city centre. A handful of elements including the Hilton and Novotel hotels, three small office buildings and the residential block One Park West will complete in 2009.
