The new name comes as the group decides not to attend MIPIM this year.
Rebranding as Liverpool Place Partnership reflects the business collective’s broadening scope to promote and support Liverpool City Region throughout the year.
Stephen Cowperthwaite has been selected as chair for the partnership. He is also a principal and managing director for Avison Young.
“We are not just about one week at MIPIM but about working as a collective throughout the year to showcase Liverpool City Region as a place to invest, across multiple national and international platforms,” Cowperthwaite said.
“Events remain integral to our work but the partnership has also proven to be a key and valuable sounding board and consultation base for the city and city region leadership, so rebranding to Liverpool Place Partnership reflects what we do more accurately.”
Liverpool at MIPIM was just eight companies strong when it was created in 2013 to promote the region at the Cannes and London property industry conference. By 2019, more than 40 businesses were involved.
As it grew, the group became more than just about MIPIM and focused on other opportunities for networking and promotion. Liverpool Place Partnership officials say they hope it will be a force for good-advocating change in the industry and to improve the relationship between private and public sectors.
MIPIM will be held 7-8 September in Cannes. The conference returns to its usual calendar slot in 2022, when it will be held from 15-18 March. Liverpool Place Partnership plans to attend the 2022 event.
