Linear DC expands in region

The main contracting arm of Scottish construction firm Linear Group has made several senior hires for its team in Manchester, as it looks to grow in the North of England.

The new recruits will join the existing 10-strong Manchester team and the business has now relocated to an office in Altrincham.

Linear Group was established in Scotland 18 months and is now taking its first steps to grow the contracting business, Linear DC, over the border. Dan Hooker, who has previously held roles at contractors Laing O’Rourke, Morgan Sindall and Overbury, has been appointed as managing director for England, to head up the new office.

He will seek to extend the group’s footprint and capability in the region, building on several recent project wins that the firm said it would announce in the coming months. Hooker worked at fit-out consultant Overbury for 10 years, first as commercial manager, then as commercial director, until January this year.

In addition, Andy Ineson has been appointed as contract manager in the Altrincham office. He also joins from Overbury, where he was contract manager for eight years until April.

Two other additions to the team are Angela Eckersley as group planning manager and Matt Hurley as senior project manager.

Stephen Holmes, chief executive of Linear Group, said, “Following the success of Linear Design and Construct in Scotland, we felt it was time to spread our wings and expand our main contracting footprint into the North of England, where we have been successfully operating Linear projects since 2008.

“Dan, Andy, Angela and Matt bring impressive experience and credentials to bolster our main contracting capability, and also strengthen our offer and presence in and around the region.”

Hooker added: “Having worked in the region for many years, I feel there is a real opportunity for Linear DC to make its mark and add value to clients across the diverse sectors operating here.”
