Leisure deals in Blackpool

Northhold Group has announced lettings to TGI Friday's and Cosmo Buffet Restaurant after securing planning consent for redevelopment of the fire-damaged former Yates' Wine Lodge.

The Talbot Square site was damaged beyond repair in a fire in 2009. The 25,000 sq ft building will be redeveloped into three separate units. The project was designed by Archer Architects.

Planning consultant GL Hearn has been retained by the developer to advise on signage applications for TGI Friday's and Cosmo Buffet Restaurant.

Paul Entwistle, senior planner at GL Hearn, said: "This was a particularly sensitive project as the site is located within a conservation area and there are a number of listed buildings in the vicinity that required consideration when developing the plans. Northhold's proposals respond to the demand from local residents and visitors to create a vibrant leisure destination for the town, whilst remaining sympathetic to the historic nature of the site. We are delighted to have been able to secure planning consent for a development which will see an iconic and prominent town centre site brought back to use."
