Legal charity moves HQ to Royal Liver Building

Rights and Humanity, an international charity with Cherie Blair as its patron, has opened a 10,100 sq ft office in one of Liverpool's trophy office buildings.

The charity was founded in 1986 by barrister Julia Häusermann and now works in 54 countries. Rights and Humanity has an office in Ipswich which will remain open although Liverpool will become its main office.

A large part of the organisation's new office, on the first floor of the Royal Liver Building, will be taken up by conference rooms.

Cherie Blair, raised in Waterloo, north Liverpool, was chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University from 1999 to 2006. She is a founding member of Matrix Chambers in London, which specialises in human rights law.

In February, marketing company Amaze chose the Royal Liver Building for its move back to Liverpool, where it was founded. The Grade I-listed building at the Pier Head has undergone a partial refurbishment in the past year, with a new entrance and communal areas.

CB Richard Ellis is sole agent for the Royal Liver Building, owned by Royal Liver Group. Rights and Humanity was unrepresented in the deal.
