Leeds engineering firm launches in Manchester

Adept Civil & Structural Engineering has opened its first Manchester office in the Northern Quarter, following a series of North West contract wins.

The office within Sevendale House will initially be headed up by Adept director Richard Parker and staffed by three other team members from the Leeds office, with plans in place to recruit a senior engineer along with several supporting engineers and technicians over the coming months.

Projects that Adept is currently working on in Manchester include the £20m transformation of Gateway House next to Piccadilly Station, into a 182-bedroom aparthotel that incorporates retail and offices. The company is also working on a number of affordable housing schemes in the North West including the construction of 125 homes across two sites in Telford and 20 homes near Leyland for Strategic Team Group.

Sevendale owner Philip J Davies Holdings completed a major renovation of the 120,000 sq ft building in September last year. The building contains 65,000 sq ft of office space and 15,000 sq ft of retail space. Other occupiers include residential property management company Urbanbubble, Ticketmaster, Liquid Personnel and Code Computerlove.

Parker said: “Expanding into Manchester is a natural step as we continue winning work throughout the region. There are a lot of exciting projects on the horizon in the North West and having a base in Manchester reinforces our intentions in the area, as well as our commitment to the projects that we are currently working on.”

Adept was founded in 2007 and employs a team of 28 in Leeds and London, predominantly working across the commercial, warehousing, retail, ecclesiastical, educational, healthcare, food processing and residential sectors, providing a full range of civil and structural engineering solutions.

OBI Property is the letting agent for Sevendale House.
