Lathwood named new regional RICS leader

Jane Lathwood, an associate in GVA's Manchester planning development and regeneration team, has been elected chairman of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors North West Regional Board.

Lathwood, who joined GVA in April from Miller Metcalfe, replaced Dominic Thompson, principal at Hockenhulls in Chester. Her term will last for three years.

She will head the RICS regional board tasked with "providing leadership and guidance on a range of institutional objectives, including setting and improving industry standards, influencing Government policy, as well as raising the status of the surveying profession across the region to attract new members."

The North West Regional Board is made up of 12 chartered surveyors from both the public and private sector working across the full spectrum of surveying disciplines.

She said: "I am honoured to accept the role of chair of the RICS North West Regional Board and look forward to providing strategic advice and leadership as we take on the challenges that face the regional property industry. I hope to represent the interests of our local members effectively and hone the knowledge and expertise of our experienced board in order to be in the best possible position to capitalise on future growth opportunities for the region."
