Landscape architects sought for Stamford Park makeover

Tameside Council is preparing to start the £3.9m Lottery-funded rejuvenation of Stamford Park between Ashton under Lyne and Stalybridge.

The council is advertising for contractors to carry out the 18-month job. The Lottery's Parks for People programme will cover the cost of the redevelopment, which will see new buildings, soft and hard landscaping restoration, improved play and enhanced planting.

The park dates back to 1873 and is Grade II-listed by English Heritage. Building work will include a new pavilion and new aviary for birds and small animals.
