Landmark Withington pub sold to residential developer

The freehold of the Grade II-listed White Lion pub, in Withington, Manchester has been sold by the Spirit Group to Symbol Developments for £850,000.

The property, at the corner of Burton Road and Wilmslow Road, was sold with vacant possession with potential for restaurant and residential use.

The Withington Ale House, as the property was originally known, is a mixed Gothic-style building constructed in 1881 with a prominent clock tower making it one of the most striking buildings in Withington. It comprises a total of 13,061 sq ft on basement, ground, first and second floors.

Donaldsons (now part of DTZ Debenham Tie Leung) acted for Spirit Group.

Symbol represented themselves.
