Land & Marine sold to Murphy Group

The Land & Marine Project Engineering subsidiary of Daniel Contractors has been sold by administrators to Murphy Group, safeguarding 184 jobs.

Around 1,000 jobs had already been rescued by deals which will see former Daniel Contractors employees continue to service contracts with Welsh Water, Bristol Water and United Utilities.

Staff working on the contract with Welsh Water have now been transferred to Enterprise, Preston, while administrators are seeking companies willing to transfer staff working on the Bristol Water and United Utilities contracts.

Most of the jobs safeguarded by the Land & Marine sale are based at its head office in Bromborough, Wirral.

Murphy Group is based in Warrington.

The Joint Administrators continue to review their options regarding the remaining areas of the business.

Bill Dawson, Joint Administrator and partner in Deloitte's Restructuring Services team, said: "We are pleased that we have been able to reach an agreement with Murphy Group that ensures that a further 184 jobs have been saved.

"We have had a number of expressions of interest in the remaining elements of the group that we are hopeful may result in further business transfers."

Bill Dawson and Dan Butters, partners at Deloitte, were appointed Joint Administrators to Daniel Contractors Limited and Land and Marine Project Engineering Limited on Wednesday 15 May.
