Liverpool City Council is due to approve a land deal to pave the way for 85 new homes and a row of shops as part of the £260m regeneration of the Anfield area.
The land deal will help to push forward phase five of the project, which has 500 homes either completed or under construction.
The site for phase five includes land between Burleigh Road South, Robson Street, Venmore Street, and Walton Breck Road.
It also intersects a number of roads including Viceroy Street, Vanguard Street, and Vyrnwy Street. These will be remodelled as part of the scheme to link Robson Street to Liverpool FC’s stadium.
Keepmoat Homes and Priority Space will build 85 two, three, and four-bed houses at the site, which will be a mix of affordable homes and homes for private sale.
There will also be five new shop units facing Walton Breck Road, which is currently being developed as a high street anchored by the football club’s new store.
There will also be an 150-bed hotel, due to be operated by Hilton Garden Inn, a small business centre, box park for street food operators, shops, cafes and housing.
The council, which has already bought most of the land and has demolished 275 properties, is also set to sign off CPO powers to push the land deal forward.
Subject to approval by the council’s cabinet, a planning application could be lodged later this month, with building work to start in May.
Cllr Ann O’Byrne, deputy mayor of Liverpool, said: “This newest phase in the comprehensive £260m regeneration of Anfield is a critical piece of the jigsaw in creating a more vibrant and successful community.
“As well as paving the way for a healthy mix of new affordable homes, all with private gardens, we’re also creating new shops and much needed green space.
“There is much still to be done but this phase marks yet another milestone in our ambitions to create a brighter Anfield for everyone.”
