Lancs buys part of The Globe Centre in Accrington

Lancashire County Council has bought part of The Globe Centre and the former Technology Management Centre within Accrington town centre in a deal worth £5.2m.

The council exchanged contracts with Barnfield Construction which acted on behalf of Globe Enterprises, a joint venture partnership between Barnfield Construction, Hyndburn Council and entrepreneur Stuart Nevison.

The relocation means the council will transfer staff from its headquarters in Bluebell Way in Preston to its new office base, occupying a total space of 60,000 sq ft. The former Technology Management Centre is located within the grounds of The Globe Centre.

The council will join current occupiers at The Globe Centre such as Contour Homes, Hyndburn Homes, North West Training & Development Team, Thomas Cook, NHS, Elevate, Accrington & Rossendale College's Graduates Facility, and Lancashire Economic Partnership.

The Globe Centre, situated on St James Square in Accrington, offers a range of conference suites and meeting rooms with the largest accommodating up to 200 delegates.

A 2,200 sq ft exhibition hall is also available for hire and the Horizons Hotel & Restaurant is situated on the top floor of the centre.
