KPMG expands at St Peter’s Square – before moving in

Accountancy firm KPMG has signed for a further 10,500 sq ft at its new Manchester base at One St Peter's Square.

In August 2011, KPMG agreed to take 63,000 sq ft across the upper three floors. The additional space will now see the firm also occupying half of the 10th floor.

The deal comes after KPMG received the keys to the office from developer Elisabeth House General Partner, a joint venture between Argent and Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund.

Work is now underway by ID:SR to fit out the building in advance of KPMG's move in December 2014.

Jon Holt, senior partner of KPMG's Manchester office, said: "We have long been vocal about our strong ambitions for our regional advisory practice and our risk and management consultancy teams in particular. The extra space at One St Peter's Square will allow us to press ahead with planned investments in high growth areas such as technology, digital and information protection."

James Heather, partner at Argent, said: "It is extremely exciting to see KPMG move closer to its occupation at One St Peter's Square. With the recent announcement of Fumo on the ground floor, and the current interest from other occupiers, 2014 is looking to be a hugely successful year for the building – not only from a commercial point of view, but for all parties involved in completing this fantastic and hugely important new development in central Manchester."

GVA advised Argent and GMPVF.

At least someone is leasing space there. I am beginning to wonder if there is something fundamentally wrong with the offering at 1SPS. Either that, or the market isn’t as hot as the city’s office agents claim when telling us to “build or miss out”
