Knowsley move for Liverpool council

Liverpool City Council has agreed a 10-year lease in neighbouring Knowsley with landlord St Modwen on units totalling 12,200 sq ft at £145,000 a year.

LCC will use the Moorgate Point premises along with a four-acre compound to operate the city’s fleet of refuse and recycling vehicles.

Moorgate Point is a 445,000 sq ft development providing industrial and office accommodation, storage compounds and an enterprise centre and with an additional 6.5 acres of development land. Moorgate Point is now fully let.

David Nuttall, development manager at St Modwen, said: “We acquired Moorgate Point just six months ago and are pleased that Liverpool City Council has chosen to commit to a 10-year lease due to the site’s excellent location and transport links. The fact that we have also been able to accommodate Muni-serv in its expansion is testament to the investment and improvements that we have made to the site since acquisition.”

Pinsent Masons, Knight Frank and B8 Real Estate represented St Modwen.

Shouldn’t this be in Liverpool? Bizzare

By Waterhouse

Liverpool built most of Knowsley between the 30s and the 60s it’s always been Liverpool anyway.

By Paul Blackburn

If I remember right, the vehicles or maintenance facilities for them have been based there for a number of years already, it’s just a case of LCC taking back control of the operations.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

I know there are obviously links between the two – culturally the line is very blurred between Liverpool and Knowsley (who would claim Steven Gerrard isn’t scouse?). I mean more from a commercial/rates review… keep it within the home side surely?

Both Liverpool and Knowsley councils seem to spend rate/taxpayers money correcting their own past mistakes, I think some of this money would have been better spent on LGV driver facilities (truck-stop). It cant be right that when Liverpool 2 is fully ramped up we will see a big increase in LGV’s using the M58, M62 and the M57 corridors with no rest areas for the drivers

By Ronnie

M58, M62 and the M57 are responsibility of Highways England, not Knowsley, Liverpool or any other council.
