Knowsley extra care schemes begin

Three new extra care housing schemes are planned by Plus Dane and Knowsley Housing Trust in Huyton, Prescot and Halewood to be developed in the next two years.

There will be 230 units built in total, across sites in Albany Road, Prescot, on the site of a former watch-making factory, Bluebell Park in Huyton and Derby Court in Halewood.

Extra care housing is a type of sheltered housing designed to meet the needs of those with housing, support and care needs. The units will include apartments and bungalows which have been designed and adapted to meet the need of the occupants.

Bluebell Park Apartments in Huyton is a £14.4m project to build 122 new homes for over-55s who need extra care and support to live independently. The project received £2.6m investment from the Homes & Communities Agency Affordable Homes Programme and will provide homes for rent and shared ownership.

The Albany Road Prescot scheme secured investment from Knowsley Housing Trust, Knowsley Council and Department of Health.

Derby Court in Halewood secured investment from Plus Dane Housing Group and Knowsley Council, also with support from the HCA's Affordable Homes Programme.
