Knight Knox and X1 secure Trafford Road approval

The 20-storey X1 The Gateway has a total development value of £33m, and is due for completion in early 2018.

Salford City Council approved Knight Knox and X1 Developments’ latest planning application for a buy-to-let apartment scheme in Salford at its planning committee yesterday. The block totals 193 flats.

The scheme is a larger reworking of an earlier project which was approved on the same site, 211 Trafford Road, designed by Coda Studios. DK Architects is advising on the current application.

The project is the latest on Trafford Road to be brought forward by Knight Knox and X1. Nearby, The Exchange has 140 flats, and is under construction.

X1 The Gateway will include an on-site gym, residents’ car parking, secure bicycle storage, a management office within the foyer and a ground-floor retail unit.

A number of the properties will also have large roof terraces. The flats were launched to the market for sale earlier this year.

The scheme will be constructed by Forrest, and will be subsequently let and block managed by X1 Lettings.

Awful. Were they going for the council/housing association look on purpose?

There’s nothing wrong with these.

These look lovely and are a huge improvement on similar schemes in that area.

Funny how all these high rise developments try to be different but all end up looking the same?! Schemes targeted at remote, international investors will always present a homogenous design approach as the bean counters regard this as low-risk, but what legacy is being left here?
And why the obsession with expensive sports cars, you’re more likely to see a barried-up Corsa on Trafford Road than a chiffon’ BMW i8!

Do not see many such cars on Trafford Rd….
