Knight Frank to market Barrow candle factory land

Knight Frank has been instructed by US-based candle maker Partylite to market Sandscale Park, a 14.5-acre site next to its factory in Barrow in Furness.

Partylite, part of Blyth Inc, will continue to operate from Sandscale and retain four acres for future expansion.

Jane Dobie, partner and head of the North West industrial team at Knight Frank, commented: "Barrow in Furness has proved to be a real success story for Cumbria, attracting a host of blue-chip chemical and pharmaceutical companies to the area, including GlaxoSmithKline, Elf Altochem Chemicals and Centrica Energy. Furthermore, Barrow is home to one of the UK's largest shipyards and to BAE Systems Submarine Solutions. The company has recently been awarded the contract for the construction of two British Navy Aircraft Carriers, which is a major coup for the area.

"The creation of this industrial area has been partly due to Barrow being listed as one of the UK's assisted areas, offering both capital and job grants. This site, which is available on a long leasehold basis, presents an exceptional opportunity for companies to be involved in this thriving hub of commercial activity and further strengthen Barrow's standing as a major industrial area."
