Kirkland sells KFC drive-thru

Stockport-based Kirkland has completed a letting to the fast food operator at its development in Middleton town centre.

The deal will unlock phase two of the redevelopment of the former Parkfield Industrial Estate in Middleton. In phase one, Aldi opened a 16,800 sq ft supermarket at the site last year.

Real estate partner Caroline Hanratty at law firm Mills & Reeve advised Kirkland Developments on the 3,668 sq ft letting and at the site on Manchester Old Road and the subsequent sale of the freehold to Dalekim Developments. Construction specialist Catherine Kay advised on the construction elements of the development.

Discussions are ongoing with potential tenants for the remaining space.

The planning application was successful on appeal for the KFC outlet, which includes a drive-thru element that some residents objected to on traffic grounds.

Cheetham & Mortimer advised Kirkland.
