King Street apartment plans submitted

HOW Planning has submitted a full planning and listed building application for the conversion of 8 King Street in Manchester to apartments.

The upper office floors of the building were vacated by a barristers' set in 2010. The grade 2-listed building is in the St Ann Square Conservation Area of the city centre.

Owner Huron Properties wants to convert the upper floors from offices into 21 apartments.

Chris Sinton, planner at HOW Planning, said: "The upper floors of this building have been vacant since its previous occupants relocated and despite a major office refurbishment it has failed to attract new tenants. It is in an ideal location for a new residential development and the proposed development will sympathetically restore a grade 2 listed building back to beneficial use."
