Jubb and Thompson join RICS Governing Council Board

Two senior figures from the North West have been elected to the Governing Council Board of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Dominic Thompson, sole principal at Hockenhulls, Chester, has been involved with the RICS regionally and nationally for many years. He is a former chairman of RICS and will serve on the governing council as its North West representative.

Lynda Jubb, director of Jubb & Jubb, Ribchester, Lancashire, also joins the council after being voted a seat.

The Governing Council of RICS includes chartered surveyors from all world regions, who together set the long-term direction of RICS and make decisions that shaping the future of the surveying profession.

A chartered surveyor and arbitrator, Thompson said: "Many people in the surveying profession assume the RICS Governing Council is a Board pushing the global expansion agenda.

"However, as much as it is important that we continue to drive international credibility for RICS members, the council also addresses the unprecedented opportunities for surveyors in the regions.

"My role as a regional representative on the council is to ultimately be the 'voice' for members in the North West, so any issues or concerns they may like to have answered by RICS can be directed through me."

Lynda Jubb is chairman of the RICS Building Conservation Forum, whose initiatives include a mentoring pilot and an information paper about historic building valuation.

She said: "As a chartered building surveyor and RICS accredited in Historic Building Conservation, I will be able to put my expertise to good use to ensure the council understands and addresses the needs of local property industries.

"I'm pleased to be a North West body on the Council, serving alongside Dominic as he has a great insight in to the region, which will prove extremely useful."
