Jones Bros lands next Cheshire Green road contract

Reserved matters consent has been granted for a spine road that will provide the main access to the 150-acre employment site near Crewe.

Denbighshire-based Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK has been appointed as main contractor to undertake the works, and expects to make a start next month. Jones Bros previously delivered a roundabout and access into the site.

Developer Cheshire Green Employment Park said that in parallel with progress on the highway, it is in advanced talks with a number of occupiers over the scheme’s frontage plots.

Highway works have been enabled by Cheshire & Warrington LEP providing a £3.2m facility from its Growing Places Fund to unlock the first phase of development at Cheshire Green

Located at Wardle off the A51, adjacent to the existing headquarters of agricultural distributor NWF Group and the established Green Lane Industrial Estate, Cheshire Green has outline planning consent for 1.35m sq ft of industrial accommodation.

Phillip Posnett, director of CGEP, said: “We are committed to creating a major employment destination here at Cheshire Green. Having been granted consent, we will waste no time in delivering this access which will completely open up the site. The funding and ongoing support from Cheshire & Warrington LEP has been invaluable and will allow us to progress without delay.”

Joint agents for the development are Fisher German and Legat Owen Matthew Pochin, director at the latter, said: “Demand for space in Crewe is at an all-time high and with limited development coming forward, the infrastructure works will undoubtedly act as a catalyst for further interest in the scheme. We look forward to announcing completion on some of the land sales in the coming weeks.”

Cheshire Green sits six miles from Crewe and 15 miles from Chester, with the A51 providing links south to Junction 16 on the M6 and north to Warrington, the M56 and Junction 20 on the M6 as well as Chester and North Wales. It forms part of the 1,400-acre Haughton Estate and was formerly used as an airfield.

Available on either a freehold or leasehold basis, Cheshire Green is offering fully serviced plots ranging from one up to 20 acres.
