About the role:

Your main role will be as a senior design engineer producing designs and drawings to support planning applications, detailed highway and drainage design and drawings for construction. You can expect to be active on a number of projects and client accounts at any given time.

The role sits in the Development Infrastructure team, who specialise in providing high level advice and detailed design to both public and private sector clients on planning and design issues relating to Highways, Public Realm, Signal Design, Sewerage, SUDS, Building Drainage, Earthworks, Flood Protection and Services Co-ordination and Utilities Diversion on Residential, Retail, Industrial and Commercial Developments both in the UK and overseas.

What we're looking for?

Training and Work Experience: You will hold a HNC or degree in Civil Engineering with solid experience in highways and drainage design and utilities coordination, and have experience in a working environment.

Skills: Knowledge of the relevant design codes such as Sewers for Adoption, DMRB, Manual for Streets and Local Authority Design Guides, and have experience of the preparation of drawings for Contract Documents and S278, S104 and S38 Agreements.

Ability to use one or more of the following with guidance;

The design of sewers using WINDES; the design of highways using PDS (or similar software packages).

The ability to produce drawings in AutoCAD is essential, together with use of AutoTrack software.

You will need to have good written and spoken communication skills, have the ability to work to deadlines, think laterally, solve problems and work as part of a team.

Knowledge: You will be able to prepare drawings for S278, S104 and S38 Agreements and for construction purposes and may have experience of the NRSWA processes for Statutory Undertakers Utilities diversions, with the ability to prepare and analyse Statutory Undertakers asset plans, and coordinate diversion works.

Behaviour: Probably from a Consultancy or Development background with a bias on private sector work. Ability to seek clarity of instructions, check own work before submitting for approval, agree and meet timescales for items of work.
