JOB | Regional Planning Manager

£40,000 – £45,000 p/a + exceptional benefits (including car)

Manchester (with extensive UK wide travel)

Closing Date 30 January

The Co-operative Group is changing. We're going back to our roots, re-focusing on our founding principles, and championing a better way of doing business for our customers and communities. We're now looking for a pro-active, confident individual to join us as a Regional Planning Manager and help drive the growth of our Food Store Estate.

Based in Manchester with extensive UK travel, you'll play a key role in supporting our ambitious new store acquisitions programme by proactively ensuring the timely receipt of planning consent for 'cold start' food store developments. Working with a wide group of internal and external stakeholders, you'll also seek to secure future trading profits and maximise asset values across the portfolio at a local and strategic level. Your role won't be focused entirely on our food business as you'll offer ad hoc support to Co-operative Funeralcare and other trading businesses, but wherever you apply your expertise we'll expect you to provide a solutions focused service that helps the Group to work in harmony with the communities in which we trade.

We want to talk to experienced planners – you should have MRTPI accreditation plus significant experience within a retail setting. You'll need real confidence and exceptional influencing skills to work effectively within a diverse stakeholder group, and your ability to devise and adapt strategies to solve specific problems will ensure you offer us the solutions focused mentality we require. Whatever your background, we'll need you to bring energy, tenacity and drive which will see you thrive in our fast-paced, ever-changing working environment.

In return for your contribution to our success, we'll offer a competitive salary, an exceptional benefits package, and the chance to progress your career and make a significant contribution to the re-building of one of the Nation's most cherished organisations. If you think you've got what it takes to help transform an iconic brand, apply online today.

For external candidates, as part of our pre-engagement screening we carry out credit reference and electoral roll searches with credit reference agencies on all your addresses over the last three years, to review information relating to bankruptcies, delinquencies, defaults and fraudulent activity. A footprint will not be left on your credit history.
