JMW’s Pearson makes full equity partner

Head of commercial real estate Thomas Pearson has been included in a raft of promotions at the Manchester-headquartered law firm.

The full-service law firm JMW Solicitors made 43 promotions across all levels, departments and offices, including a record seven promotions to equity level, which all took effect on 1 May.

Pearson is a partner and head of commercial real estate, specialising in property development in the healthcare, residential, social housing, leisure and retail sectors.

Among his clients are Castlemead Group, Grafton Land & Property, Blueoak Estates, Northhold Group, HSPG, Lingar Group and Whitecroft Group. Pearson was also heavily involved with the fit-out of JMW’s new office space at 3 Hardman Street in Manchester, as well as the Plaza in Liverpool and Kings House in London.

He has been promoted to full equity partner, together with six other heads of departments at JMW, including – in Manchester – Elspeth Kinder and Michael Chapman in family law and Steve Morris in commercial litigation, as well as Beverley Jones in family law in Liverpool, Lee Adams, head of London, and Anita Rai in employment, also in London.

JMW also promoted seven others to fixed share equity partner, made four partner promotions, nine promotions from associate to senior associate, and 17 promotions from solicitor to associate across both the Manchester and London offices.

JMW’s senior partner Joy Kingsley said: “All these promotions are very well deserved…For our continued growth, it is very important that we retain our talented people by rewarding them for their considerable contributions and this is shown in the 43 promotions made across the firm this year, which represents 7% of our employees.”
