JMW expands back into Old School House

JMW Solicitors has leased 9,000 sq ft of office space in the Old School House, Spinningfields, Manchester, to accommodate expansion.

The Manchester-based law firm has taken on 24 new recruits in recent months in addition to those who joined from Goodman Harvey in June 2013.

The Old School House was JMW's office until 2006 when they built their new office next door, 1 Byrom Place, on the firm's car park.

JMW agreed a five-year lease on the Old School House, owned by a small group of past and present partners at the firm, and said it expected further growth across all departments.

Joy Kingsley, senior partner at JMW, said: "It has been a very busy time at JMW over the last few years and our continued growth has meant the need for us to occupy more office space as we now have over 230 staff based in Spinningfields compared with 150 three years ago."

Bill Jones, managing partner at JMW, said: "We looked at several options when we realised that we would need more office space to meet with the demand for our growing number of staff and partners. It is great news that we are all able to stay on one site."

Edwards & Co advised on the deal.
