JD Sports extends stay at Heywood while Kingsway built

Retailer JD Sports Fashion has taken an additional 131,600 sq ft unit on a two-year lease at Segro Heywood Distribution Park in Rochdale.

JD Sports's new 616,000 sq ft distribution centre is currently being built at Wilson Bowden's Kingsway but will not be completed until the middle of 2011.

Jane Leedham, leasing manager from Segro, said: "We are always looking at how we can develop and build on existing relationships with our occupiers, which will help them fulfil a broad range of requirements. JD Sports had a short-term requirement and we were only too happy to accommodate them."

Daniel Burn, from joint letting agent King Sturge, said: "Heywood Distribution Park is synonymous with attractive, flexible business space in the North West. The Park has been a highly successful distribution base for JD Sports over the years and we were delighted to assist them once again."
