JD opens Armani store at Liverpool One

AX Armani Exchange has started trading at Peter’s Lane, following the completion of a deal between Grosvenor Europe and retail group JD Sport Fashion.

The 3,169 sq ft boutique represents the first of what JD described as a series of premium boutiques across the UK. Previously, Exchange stores had operated in locations including Netquarter and the Ttafford Centre, but have closed, and the Liverpool opening reflects the only UK standalone site outside London at present for the Armani diffusion line.

Alison Clegg, director of asset management at Grosvenor Europe, said: “AX Armani Exchange complements the lineup on Peter’s Lane, adding another designer store to Liverpool ONE’s unique offer.

“The decision by the JD Sport Fashion plc to select Liverpool ONE for this first new store outside London is a reflection of our status as the destination for global brands.”

The store joins Reiss, Tessuti – also part of the JD stable – Hugo Boss, Ted Baker and Michael Kors on Peter’s Lane, which is anchored by Beauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols and Flannels. COS, part of Scandinavian giant H&M, recently opened its first regional store at the gateway to the label-heavy street, while its sister business, homeware store Arket, is due to open later this year.

Cushman & Wakefield and Metis Real Estate Advisors acted for Liverpool ONE, while JD Sport Fashion was unrepresented.

Shame there can’t be a proper Armani store like in Manchester.

Peter’s Lane getting better and better.

By Come on down

If you read the article, you’ll note that both the Trafford Centre and Met Quarter stores have been mentioned. Both have since closed. This particular store in Peter’s Lane, it says, is the first offering the “diffusion” range of clothing.
