JD doubles down on Liverpool flagship
JD Sports is to create a new 40,000 sq ft regional flagship store in Liverpool ONE by taking possession of the Superdry unit next to its existing shop.
To accommodate the doubling of the sportswear retailer’s footprint, fashion retailer Superdry is relocating to Liverpool ONE’s South John Street, where it will open a 10,000 sq ft store.
Warren Thompson, group acquisitions manager at JD Sports, said: “Liverpool ONE is a key location for JD so we are very pleased to be opening a new flagship store on Paradise Street. The additional space will allow us to create something quite spectacular, combining the very best mix of brands and product lines with an outstanding experience for our customers.”
JD is to design its new store in-house.
Miles Dunnett, director portfolio at Grosvenor Europe, said: “The significantly larger store reinforces Liverpool ONE’s position as one of the leading retail and leisure destinations in the UK with a line-up of UK and international brands that is second to none.”
Other fashion brands to open in recent months in Paradise Street include 7Liverpool, Jack Wolfskin and Urban Decay. Liverpool ONE reported year-on-year sales growth of 8% in 2016, with 20 brands opening stores, including new regional flagship stores for Apple and Victoria’s Secret.
Cushman & Wakefield and Metis acted for Liverpool ONE. Both JD Sports and Superdry were unrepresented.
