James Industrial plans mixed-use scheme in Prescot

Bolton-based developer James Industrial has acquired 61 acres fronting the M57 in Knowsley from Prysmian Cables & Systems for an undisclosed sum.

Agents Matthews & Goodman advised the vendor on the sale of the development site, a former manufacturing facility once occupied by BICC Cables to produce copper wire and cable components.

The site contains buildings totalling in excess of 500,000 sq ft. James Industrial has already started demolition of redundant buildings ahead of a planned mixed-use development including commercial and residential space.

David Newman of Matthews & Goodman said: "There has always been strong interest in this site from developers, investors and occupiers. The sale demonstrates there is still healthy demand in the North West market for good quality, well located employment sites of this scale that offer the potential for redevelopment."
