Jacobs takes space with Orbit

Jacobs Engineering has leased a 9,720 sq ft office from Orbit Developments at Park Square to accommodate expansion following a contract win.

US-owned Jacobs will relocate part of its operations, including 70 staff, to Park Square from Cheadle Royal Business Park.

Tony Jones, managing director of Orbit Developments, said: "Jacobs Engineering is one of the world's largest and most diverse providers of professional technical services. After more than a decade in the region, it is a significant boost for Stockport that a company of its stature has chosen to remain in the borough by not only moving to Park Square but also expanding its operations as well."

Park Square totals 133,000 sq ft and underwent a £1.6m refurbishment earlier this year.

Jacobs advises Manchester University, Peel Group, Cheshire East Council, and Blackpool Council among others.

Cllr Dave Goddard, leader of Stockport Council, said: "It's great news that an international company like Jacobs has chosen to expand its operations and continue to invest in Stockport."

Orbit is one of the largest commercial landlord's in the Stockport area with a total floor area of 438,447 sq ft across 11 buildings. Jacobs signed a three-year lease off a quoting rent of £12.50/sq ft plus parking at £250 each.

Jacobs Engineering was represented by Vail Williams. DTZ and GVA acted for Orbit Developments.
