IVG signs pair on Whitechapel

IVG UK, part of German fund IVG Immobilien AG, has signed two deals in retail units in central Liverpool.

Local jeweler Wongs has taken 3,765 sq ft over ground and basement at 19 Whitechapel and will relocate from nearby Rainford Square.

The address was previously occupied by clothing retailer Lacoste before it moved into Liverpool One.

Outdoor retailer Blacks Leisure has signed a new lease to stay in five floors totaling 17,000 sq ft at 13 Whitechapel.

Both leases were for 10 years at undisclosed prices.

Blacks Leisure re-leased the premises after it went into administration earlier this year. The Liverpool deal is part of a plan to turn Blacks Leisure around through a Company Voluntary Arrangement to pay back creditors.

Rob Markland of Mason Owen's retail team, advising IVG, said: "These two lettings are positive news for city centre retail. The new tenants will strengthen the link between Church Street, Whitechapel and Queen Square and position this area a key retail district."
