ITV technology boss leaves for Media City
John O'Shaughnessy, head of production technology in the North at ITV, is joining Peel Media to run technology operations at the new studios.
O'Shaughnessy worked for ITV North in Manchester for 25 years, managing the technology requirements for ITV shows including Emmerdale and Coronation Street.
He said: "After 25 years of enjoyable and productive time at ITV I am now keenly looking forward to the challenges ahead at Media City UK. I am delighted to get the opportunity to be a member of the team that will develop Media City UK from its inception to becoming a world class studio and resources facility that will redefine the reference for production and content creation."
Paul Clennell, chief technology officer for Peel Media, said: "We're thrilled that John O'Shaughnessy is joining us as our studios officially open for business. This is a key appointment for Media City UK and John's vast experience will be a great asset to our team."
Peel Media and joint venture partner SIS Live will own and operate seven high-definition television studios at Media City as well as two audio studios, one of them for the BBC Philharmonic. The Studios will open later in January.
Late last year, ITV confirmed it would relocate its Manchester operations including Coronation Street to Media City UK.
