Irwin Mitchell extends Bauhaus base

Law firm Irwin Mitchell has taken an additional 5,944 sq ft at Bauhaus, the Manchester office building on Quay Street owned by Blackrock.

The Blackrock UK Property Fund said the tenant would now have the whole of the fourth floor, taking its occupation to 24,000 sq ft over four floors. Irwin Mitchell employs 170 staff and has been based at Bauhaus since 2007.

The 50,864 sq ft building originally developed by Ask is also home to energy company, Gazprom, and communications agency, Brilliant Media.

David Thwaites, associate Director at Lambert Smith Hampton's Manchester office, said: "This latest deal not only reinforces the success of the building but also provides a confidence boost for the North West office market generally by demonstrating that successful businesses are continuing with their expansion plans.

"With only three floors remaining, totalling 17,592 sq ft, we are confident of announcing further lettings shortly."

Joint agents alongside Lambert Smith Hampton are Cushman & Wakefield.
