Innov8 wins student accommodation briefs

The Wirral-based construction safety firm has won contracts to supply services to two developments in Manchester.

Innov8 Safety Solutions was awarded a construction design management brief by contractor GB Building Solutions for the £28m Manchester Metropolitan University Birley Fields development in Hulme.

The company has also been appointed to provide CDM services to the £8m Riverside House development in central Manchester, awarded by project manager Dawson Green on behalf of developer Salford Student LLP, part of Portergate Property Holdings.

The 1,200 bed Birley Fields development is part of a £72m MMU campus. Housing for students will consist of four storey townhouses. The Riverside development will serve Salford, Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan universities. Innov8 will help with up-front planning and pre-construction on the two builds.

Alan Robson, managing director at Innov8 Safety Solutions, said: "We will manage every aspect of risk and as the builds progress we will advise on health and safety and manage the flow of information between the client, designers and contractors."

Innov8 Safety Solutions recently announced an 80% surge in profits to £400,000. The leap was driven by repeat work and a strong performance in the North West.

Robson added:"Innov8 is working with a number of key clients including Peel, Neptune Developments, the NHS in Cheshire and Wirral and the Trafford Housing Trust to provide ongoing CDM and site safety services."

CDM is a legal requirement for any new construction project that goes beyond 30 days.
