Icon secures 102,500 sq ft deal at Manchester Airport

The joint venture between Stoford and TPG Real Estate has signed a deal to bring airline catering services firm Alpha LSG to its ÂŁ100m industrial development at Manchester Airport.

Alpha LSG, a partnership between Dnata and LSG Sky Chefs, has signed up for Unit 4, which secured planning consent in March this year, alongside another unit of 138,300 sq ft.

Unit 4 comprises 95,000 sq ft of warehousing alongside a 7,500 sq ft office along with 141 car parking spaces. Alpha, which is already based at the airport, provides in-flight catering, retail, and logistics services, and the new facility will double the size of its existing facility.

The company is the latest to sign up at Icon, which also counts The Hut Group among its tenants; Icon concluded the sale of a 11.6-acre plot to the online beauty retailer earlier this month.

The Hut Group will build a logistics and global content creation studio, which in the first phase will see the development of a 168,000 sq ft warehouse and 104,000 sq ft of offices over four floors. Other tenants at the site include Amazon and DHL.

Stoford and TPG bought the 45-acre site within Airport City last summer.

Alex Forbes, chief executive officer of Alpha LSG, said: “This new building is a significant investment in our future in Manchester and beyond. We see this as an opportunity to launch lots of new improved initiatives across our entire network such as continued environmental agenda, the reduction in single use plastics, agile working, wellbeing in the workplace and interactive communications to name but a few.”

Icon’s retained agents are CBRE, JLL, and DTRE.
