Huyton building firm sold by administrators

Merseyside-based Assured Building & Roofing has entered into administration, Kerry Bailey and Jon Newell of PKF accountants and business advisers appointed joint administrators.

Assured undertakes building and maintenance work mainly within the insurance industry throughout the North of England. The company operated from two depots in Huyton, Knowsley and Ossett, west Yorkshire and employed 57 staff.

PKF partner Kerry Bailey said: "Despite efforts made by Assured Building & Roofing over the last few weeks to turn the business around and secure a refinancing package, the board of directors took the decision to appoint administrators on 23 March.

"Since our appointment, we have negotiated the sale of the Huyton business, which has resulted in the continued employment of a number of the depot's employees. The business will continue to trade and provide services to its customer base from Huyton.

"Regrettably, we have had to make the difficult decision of closing the Ossett operation, leading to a number of job losses at the depot."

There were 36 staff at Huyton depot, where eight have been made redundant in the past week. All 21 staff at the Ossett depot have been made redundant. The buyer in Huyton did not wish to be named but is unrelated to the previous owner.
