Hurstwood signs discount store in Rossendale

Winners Discount Megastore has agreed a ten year lease at a former Kwik Save store in Rawtenstall in Rossendale, Lancashire.

Hurstwood completed the deal with the Nottingham-based retailer for the 20,000 sq ft store, located on New Hall Hey Road, which has been empty for four years.

The unit is undergoing a refit and the new operator is due to open the doors on Saturday 1 May this year.

Nigel Thomas, managing director of Winners Discount Megastore, said: "This is the first of several stores we have planned to roll out across the country. We firmly believe that Rossendale is the ideal location for us. We were looking for market towns that weren't already served by other discount stores and Rawtenstall ticks all the boxes. It has good parking and great road networks."

"We are bringing something new to the area, the store will sell a broad range of household and everyday essentials, as well as a range of gardening and other seasonal products."

Mark Carling, Hurstwood sales director, added: "It comes on the back of a number of other lettings our team has completed in the Rossendale area in recent months and is a clear indicator that there are people prepared to invest in the region. Hurstwood has attracted well over 100 jobs to the area in a time when the economy generally has been struggling."

Based at Navigation Business Park, Bolton, Hurstwood has commercial property interests in the North West, Midlands and Wales with approximately 500 occupier clients at over 100 locations.

Details of the rental agreement were not disclosed.

Cannot wait for it to open. It will give the supermarkets a run for their money. It will save me having to travel to Bury and other surrounding areas for my bargains.
