HOW capitalises on Crewe change for Bloor and Linden

Following the recent approval of Cheshire East Council's interim planning policy allowing the release of parcels of land for housing next to the settlement boundary of Crewe, HOW Planning has secured planning approval for one of the first major new residential developments in the area on behalf of joint developers Bloor Homes and Linden Homes.

A planning application was submitted earlier this year for the scheme which occupies a greenfield site on land off Parkers Road. Go-ahead has now been given for up to 400 new homes, public open space, a children's play area, to be brought forward in a number of phases.

Carol Clarke, associate at HOW Planning in Manchester, said: "Cheshire East's new planning policy actively seeks to promote new housing. This new scheme will not only have a hugely positive impact on the residential needs of the area but the developers are also keen to promote the use of local suppliers and provide a number of apprenticeships and training opportunities for local young people."

Stephen Barlow from Bloor Homes adds: "This is fantastic result for both Linden Homes and ourselves and we are looking forward seeing work progress on site. This part of Cheshire has been specifically identified as an area for residential development and we hope that the scheme will go some way towards helping meet the growing housing needs in the area."

Andrew Byrne from Linden Homes comments: "Linden Homes are looking forward to this new venture with our partners Bloor Homes for what we hope will be the first of many in the North West."

Cheshire East Council will receive revenue from the New Homes Bonus Scheme at the development, whereby the government matches the additional council tax raised from new houses for six years.
