Housing trust appoints Seddon for £10m work

G&J Seddon has been appointed by Chester & District Housing Trust for three projects, providing a total of 103 apartments on separate sites within Chester.

The work is worth a total of £10m to the privately owned contractor and the apartments are aimed at those aged 55 and over.

Alan Taylor, head of new build affordable housing at Seddon, said: "We have an experienced housing team which has an inherent understanding of clients' needs within this sector. Complimenting this we feel open, approachable and friendly interaction with the local community and a focus on the employment of local labour and supply chain is key and will be fundamental in the successful delivery of the contracts with Chester & District Housing Trust."

Each of the three design and build projects is being constructed to level 3 of the code for sustainable homes, incorporating timber framework and a high level of insulation together with communal boilers and rain water harvesting.

Danielle Harrison, senior development officer from Chester & District Housing Trust, added: "We are looking forward to working with Seddon on these three projects. The new apartments will provide the new residents with high quality homes in a safe and secure environment which we are confident will be finished to a very high standard."

G&J Seddon is part of the Seddon Group, which employs 1,750 people.
