Housing plan for factory site

Bellway Homes has acquired Crown Packaging's redundant factory siite in Aintree for residential development.

Crown Packaging used the 7-acre site in Park Lane until earlier this year when it relocated the operation to Trinity Park in Sefton.

Outline planning consent has been granted by Sefton Council for the development of 97 homes including 89 houses and eight apartments.

John Dunlop, senior surveyor in CBRE's Manchester land and development team, advising Crown packaging, said: "Following the decision to relocate from the site, Crown Packaging investigated the possibility for alternative uses. Due to the positioning of the site within a mainly residential area, a change to residential usage was the natural choice. The sale to Bellway Homes ensures that this strategic site will be brought back to life as a quality development and the deal represents a good result for all parties."
