House prices fell in October

Average house prices in the North West fell 1.0% in October to £117,868 according to the latest monthly figures from the Land Registry.

The annual change compared to October 2009 was -0.8%. Nationally the annual change was an increase of 3.4% to £165,505.

There were only monthly rises in London and the East, while house prices fell across the West Midlands, South West, Yokshire, West Midlands, South East and East Midlands.

During August 2010, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales rose by 1% to 58,783 from 58,270 in August 2009. The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1m increased by 44% between August 2009 and August 2010, from 506 to 731.
