Hotel Gotham opens for business

The 60-bedroom hotel at Marshall CDP's 100 King Street in Manchester city centre has completed and is open for reservations.

The hotel occupies the top seven floors of the building, which is in an Art Deco style designed by Edwin Lutyens. The ground and lower ground floors are let to Jamie's Italian restaurant.

The 60 rooms include five 'inner sanctum suites' with large cinema screens. The hotel has a restaurant, roof-top bar and member's club.

Hotel Gotham is operated by Bespoke Hotels, leasing the space from Marshall CDP. The hotel is targeted at an exclusive VIP audience, and visitors are only allowed inside if they are a member or have a reservation at the hotel or restaurant.

Rooms in Hotel Gotham are priced at between £150 and £1,000 a night. Marshall CDP is the owner, contractor and completed the fit-out of the hotel.

Simon Marshall, owner and director of Marshall CDP, said: "Hotel Gotham is a unique scheme that has caused a stir on an international level. As the owner as well as the contractor for the Lutyens-designed building, we worked closely with Bespoke Hotels as well as Manchester City Council and English Heritage to create a dramatic yet functional space for the hotel whilst sensitively considering the unique attributes of this iconic building."

"The hotel is perfectly positioned to take advantage of the neighbouring designer retailers and high end restaurants and with further investment planned and more new occupiers set to move in to the area in the coming months, King Street is one of Manchester's most vibrant destinations. Coupled with the region's boom in tourism and last year's record levels of hotel occupancy, this is perfect time for Bespoke Hotels to expand its presence in the market with its stylish and novel offering."

Marshall CDP is currently on site at a 182-bedroom aparthotel conversion in Gateway House in Manchester, on behalf of Stay City.

Dated. Dark. Boutique themed over-hyped self-proclaiming ‘sexiest hotel in the city’. I’ll be sticking with Premier Inn.
