HKR wins Boddingtons phase one

Ask Developments and Realty Estates have chosen HKR Architects to design the first phase of the redevelopment of the Boddingtons Brewery site in Manchester.

The 7.4-acre site is due to make way for a 20-storey residential tower as well as smaller mixed-use blocks and offices aimed at creative businesses.

HKR is also designing the redevelopment of the Brown Bros Building, another former brewery, in Salford for Artisan.

Boddingtons closed in 2005 and the site was acquired in September 2006 with funding provided by the HSBC North West Corporate Banking Real Estate team.

The overall Boddingtons site is being masterplanned by HOK. The development is expected to take 10 years to complete.
