Hilti leases 42,000 sq ft at Circle Square

The construction equipment and software specialist is moving its UK headquarters to the Oxford Road scheme being delivered by Bruntwood SciTech and Vita Group, becoming the third firm to commit to No.1 Circle Square.

Under the deal, Hilti will take 42,000 sq ft on the second, third and fourth floors of the 12-storey, 235,000 sq ft building.

The company has earmarked December as its move-in date, five months after the building is scheduled to complete.

Hilti currently has its head office at 1 Trafford Wharf in Trafford Park but opted for Circle Square, saying: “A more modern head office will allow us to better position Hilti on the international jobs market and attract global talent to come and work with our team.”

Hilti joins Mills & Reeve, which took 15,000 sq ft at No.1 Circle Square last November, and HP which took 20,000 sq ft in December 2018.

Matias Järnefelt, managing director of Hilti in Northern Europe and Great Britain, said: “The move marks our commitment to Manchester with its international airport, reputation for innovation, thriving construction industry and great universities.

3 Circle Square

Plans for No.3 Circle Square were submitted in November 2019

“We considered many office locations, but none met our requirements better than No.1 Circle Square. Our new working environment will feature spacious open areas, encouraging communication and allowing for more flexible, collaborative and modern working.”

Matt Lee, head of commercial for Bruntwood SciTech, added: “Hilti choosing Circle Square for their new home after more than 30 years in Trafford is testament to the retail and amenities on offer at Circle Square as well as Symphony Park, the first and largest new city park for generations.”

CBRE acted on behalf of Hilti and Knight Frank acted on behalf of Bruntwood SciTech.

Plans for the next stage of Bruntwood SciTech and Vita’s scheme – the 15-storey, 220,000 sq ft No.3 Circle Square – were submitted in November 2019. Once complete, the entire development will provide 1.2m sq ft of workspace.
