Hill Dickinson Developers’ Conference returns

The line-up has been announced for Hill Dickinson's annual Developers' Conference at Chester Zoo.

The specialist property lawyers will deliver presentations on the current key issues in property, construction, property litigation and planning on the afternoon of Wednesday 4 July 2012.

The popular legal update is followed by a barbecue, networking and guided zoo safari – including the Dinosaurs Bite Back exhibition – your opportunity to explore the zoo after the gates have been closed to the public.

This year's speaker programme is as follows:

John Holmes, Head of Planning. The National Planning Policy Framework – a charter for growth? After months of debate and speculation, the reform of the planning system has been affected by the publication, and implementation, of the NPPF. We examine some of the themes within the document, positives that can be taken and its impact on how local planning authorities will treat planning as a catalyst for economic growth.

Alan Pugh, Partner: Construction update. A review of the changes brought about by the Construction Act in October 2011, BIM, the Green Deal, Building Regulations and recent case law.

Ralph Bullivant, Head of Property Litigation: Adverse possession – avoiding the pitfalls. Possession is nine tenths of the law; this talk will look at adverse possession and provide a brief update on the law and practical steps a landowner can take so as to avoid potential difficulties.

Bill Chandler, Legal Director, Property: Keeping your options open. Having identified a potential development site, we will consider how to secure control of the site and prevent rival developers from stealing your opportunity.
