Heron House to see £10m revamp

Manchester City Council is to invest £10m in the refurbishment of its offices in Heron House in Albert Square, weeks after the property was put on the market for £39m.

Heron House is a 123,000 sq ft office, retail and leisure building let to Manchester City Council for in excess of 21 years. There are 14,000 sq ft of leisure and retail space on the ground floor, and the upper five floors comprise 109,600 sq ft of offices.

The council is looking for a design and project management team to oversee refurbishment works and provide ongoing management leading to a potential subletting of the property.

Once a team is appointed works are due to take place throughout 2015.

Mike Fisk of Fisk & Co was appointed to market the building in May on behalf of the vendor who is a private investor.
