Henry Boot submits plans for town centre retail

A planning decision is expected in April on the £40m retail scheme on Curzon Street proposed by Henry Boot Developments.

The Manchester-based developer submitted plans in February for 160,000 sq ft of new retail anchored by a 50,000 sq ft Primark and 20,000 sq ft Next. The development is planned for the former Pioneer car park and will contain 17 shops, cafes and 400 car parking spaces.

Originally to be called the Oval shopping, the project was first mooted in 2004 but stalled when the recession hit.

Adam Brady of Henry Boot Developments said talks were ongoing with other high street retailers to pre-let space at the scheme.

Richard Lucas Property Consultants and DTZ are agents for the scheme.
